Biography of Aaliyah
Aaliyah’s short-lived, but brillant career was a true success story for a young African-American woman who went against all odds to be herself in an industry where originality is scarce. Thir marriage was annulled due to her status as a minor. Modest. Withdrawing from the celebrity scene for a few years, Aaliyah lived the life of a normal teenage girl, attending Detroit’s Performing Arts High School where she majored in dance. A few minutes after take-off, the plane crashed about 200 feet from the runaway killing Aaliyah and many others instantly.


Aaliyah trivia

• Met her husband in film class at UVSC
• She has 3 siblings, Nathan, Paul and Angie.
• Decided she wanted to become an actress after being inspired by the film, “Dirty Dancing”
• Began using her initials as her name at age 8, when she played on an all boys baseball team.
• She originally auditioned for the starring role of Angela on ‘My So Called Life’ but did not get it, so she returned for the audition of Rayanne.
