When she was 15 her father attacked her mother, and her mother shot him in self-defense. He died, but her mother was not charged in the incident.
- Celebrated her 15th birthday during the 43rd Annual Grammy Awards, where the audience sang “Happy Birthday” to her. She returned the favor by doing an impromptu song number for them.
- She was born in Santiago, Chile but was raised in Miami.
